The amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment (widely known as WEEE or e-waste) generated every year in the EU is increasing rapidly. It is now one of the fastest growing waste streams.

EU rules on WEEE aim to contribute to sustainable production and consumption. They address environmental and other issues caused by the growing number of discarded electronics in the EU.

Why Recycle?

  • Old electrical equipment is the UK’s fastest growing type of waste.
  • Many of todays electrical goods can either be recycled or repaired.
  • By recycling where you can, we can reduce the impact of hazardous waste on the environment and save our natural resources.
  • Incorrectly disposed electricals can contaminate the soil and water sources – harming us and the wildlife.

What can be recycled?

  • Good news is, almost anything can be recycled!
  • Your unused electricals contain plastics and metals that can be made into anything from car parts to new electronics!
  • Please don’t bin your electrical items. Recycle them!
  • This symbol will help remind you that electrical equipment can now be recycled instead of binned.
